Eharp Players Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Psalm 33:2. The Eharp is a ten string instrument (steel guitar) with the following tuning and string gauges from low string to high string: C#(.036), E(.032), F(.028), F#(.026w), G(.024), G#(.022), A(.020), B(.018), C#(.016), E(.014). Many thanks to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for the use of their archives for research into the works of Eddie Alkire. Also, thanks to Lorene Ruymar for granting permission to use excerpts from her book, "The Hawaiian Steel Guitar and its great Hawaiian Musicians." This is an excellent book and a must reading for anyone interested in understanding how the steel guitar evolved. Please check out her website.
